The Top 7 Interior Trends for 2020
Blue is the new Grey
Classic Blue is this year’s Pantone Colour of the Year, so if you’re looking for a colour that everyone is talking about, then check out 19-4052 the official colour of 2020.
Earth Tones
Think rustic and coffee browns, olive and forest greens and you’ll be on the right track to introducing earth tones within your design specifications. From paints and wallpapers to rugs and wall hangings, all things earthy are bound to look perfectly on trend.
Old & New
This style of interiors has been burning its way through 2019 and into 2020, with a complete mix of old and new sitting together perfectly. Try an old coffee table or side table that you’ve picked up from an antiques shop or from a car boot sale and place it next to a new-style sofa and work from this to introduce more old and new styles. If done properly it can make an entire room classically ageless.
Multi-Functional Spaces
Space is always a priority when redesigning a room, that’s why 2020 sees the comeback of multi-functional room use. We no longer need a spare bedroom that is rarely used, especially when it can also be used as an office, or a separate kitchen and utility room, when both can work harmoniously as one. With the addition of clever cupboards or dual-use worktops a room can be used to it’s full potential.
Playfulness
By adding an element of playfulness into a specific room it instantly changes the feel, so when a room is playfully decorated it encourages people to relax and enjoy the surroundings. You can be playful by adding an Italian or Grecian bust, or mixing materials like velvet and wicker, or having an unusual trolley bar, and the room will be become brighter when different colours are used.
Busy Bathrooms
What is a busy bathroom? It’s all about the design. Start with a focal wall, make it big, bold and bright and that way your small space encapsulates something wonderful. Florals, forestry and pattern are the go to 2020 backdrop for a new style this decade.
Sustainability
As a nation we are changing our habits to introduce an element of sustainability, and this year is going to be big news interiors wise. With more and more reclaimed wood being used in kitchens, bathrooms and dining, recycled furniture is being produced around the UK, up-cycling is big business, and buying local is a definite must for 2020.
