September Blog - Autumn is on the Horizon

As we lean towards the end of the best summer we have known in recent times, we are embarking on a slightly cooler autumn, but not when it comes to interior design, colour or style, as things are still hot hot hot!

Prints and Shapes

Botanical Prints

Botanical Prints

Botanical prints are still a favourite for the coming season, with large prints taking the feature wall to a whole new level. Bathrooms are a major head turner when it comes to the botanical theme, as all walls are covered to give a wraparound rainforest feel in the smallest room of the house.

Floral Prints

Floral prints are huge (literally) this autumn, taken directly off the catwalk, from supermodels to home furnishings. The bigger the better for florals whether it be a statement rug, an oversized cushion or a single wall with just one beautiful flower, the floral trend is looking pretty this fall.

Shapes

Shapes

A new look for autumn 2018 is one filled with brightly coloured shapes; from squares and circles to rectangles and triangles. Shapes are an absolute must-have for home décor this autumn. Soft furnishings including cushions, rugs, artwork and table decorations are all showcasing this seasons shapes.

Colours

Navy Blue and Black

Navy Blue and Black

For those of you who live for something different in your home, this may be the interior design preference for you. Navy blue and jet black are strong colour choices for walls, ceilings, sofas, and units (shelves, bookcases, tables, sideboards, and cupboards) this season, but bear in mind that you need to keep it simple, keep it chic, and keep it wow factor!  Using the correct lighting with these truly dark colours is a must.

Pale Dusky Pinks

Pale Dusky Pinks

As trends come and go, the pale dusky pinks trend is one that appears to be here to stay. With a vast selection of pinks to choose from, it’s good to know when starting out which pinks are the ones for you, remember to keep it pretty yet grown-up, as you don’t want to end up with Barbie’s boudoir in your living room. Look for deep, dusky, pale pinks with warm undertones that shout serene style.

Jewel Colours

Jewel Colours

Think sophisticated understated bling for this look to work. We’re talking glistening golds, ruby reds, shimmering opals, and enchanting emeralds. Choose just one, and make it the statement for your bedroom, living room or kitchen, and don’t go overboard, just a little touch of these jewel tones will bring autumn together beautifully. Look to a jewel like chandelier-style lighting fixture, golden kitchen taps, or an opal-esque coffee table in the lounge and you’ll instantly win in the style league.

Green

Another trend that is here to stay is the statement use of greens throughout the home. If you follow Instagram and Pinterest then you’ll know that green is the go to colour of choice for many. Kitchens and bathrooms are being filled with plants to add a green feel, living rooms and snugs are seeing sofas, chairs, and soft furnishings in darker green tones, and kitchens are having a single green cupboard added into the mix. It’s all about the greens.
