Gleeson Show Home
Our Brief
We were asked to create a 'showhouse' aimed at the family market. Our project was
a four bedroom, detached house on a large, new development built by Gleeson's.
Our brief was to appeal to as many people as possible, therefore the look couldn't
be too 'way out'!
We were asked to keep it neutral without being boring.
Our Approach
We wanted to appeal to the masses, therefore by keeping the showhouse pretty
neutral, but adding some interest throughout the house in the form of beautiful
fabrics used for the curtains and
blinds, striking light fittings, particulary in the kitchen, and unusual flooring in
the bathrooms, such as real stone pebble tiles, which added texture and interest to
otherwise plain rooms.
The flooring in the entrance and kitchen needed to look good and create the wow factor
when entering the property but it also needed to be practical for a family coming and
going all the time. We used a contract vinyl in a dark wood effect that looks just
like the real thing! But it's quieter, more durable and much lower maintenance.
It was the little touches like that that were thought out carefully to get maximum
results that made the showhouse a sucess and made it stand out from the other
developments nearby.
Result
The showhouse was a great success and all the houses on the development were sold, many
before they were actually built.
The client was very happy with the result.
